UIL signs cooperation agreement with Shanghai Normal University

Teachers are key to transforming education systems into lifelong learning ecosystems. The cooperation project will hence produce new research and support the development of integrated learning policies by producing evidence and tools and sharing experiences with regard to the role, profile and learning strategies of teachers.  

In addition, the cooperation will support the next generation of GRALE, the only global report that monitors and compares developments in adult learning and education. Efforts will be made to produce high-quality data on adult learning and education to encourage evidence-based policies. The data will help monitor the implementation of the Marrakech Framework for Action, which was adopted by UNESCO Member States at the Seventh International Conference on Adult Education (CONFINTEA VII).  

The agreement will also lead to an extended working relationship between UIL and SHNU, with staff exchanges, online workshops, and offline meetings and seminars.  

It is expected that the implementation of the agreement will greatly benefit from the strategic partnership between UIL and SHNU and build on the expertise and experience of the two organizations in their relevant fields.   

Shanghai Normal University (SHNU), formerly known as Shanghai Teachers Training College, was founded in 1954. SHNU is a public research university which has a focus on teacher training and a particular strength in liberal arts. It is committed to training quality teachers for high-quality basic education. It has established nearly 70 affiliated schools across the People’s Republic of China and takes a leading role in providing high-quality basic education in Shanghai and at national level.
