2016年6月22日，由联合国教科文组织国际自然与文化遗产空间技术中心（HIST）主办，CAS-TWAS空间减灾卓越中心（SDIM）、中国科学院空天信息创新研究院（AIR）、意大利国家研究理事会（CNR）和欧洲航天局（ESA）等单位协办的“第三届世界遗产空间技术培训班”在AIR新技术园区举办开幕式。来自斯里兰卡、柬埔寨、斯洛文尼亚、保加利亚、埃塞俄比亚、印度等12个亚、非和东欧发展中国家的25名世界遗产管理和研究人员参加了开幕式。这是HIST第三次举办世界遗产空间技术培训班，前两次分别在2012年和2014年举办。培训班由中国科学院提供经费支持，旨在为发展中国家世界遗产决策者和管理者提供技术培训，推广空间技术在世界遗产保护和管理中的应用，共为20余国的世界遗产决策者和管理者提供了空间技术培训。与前两次培训不同，此次培训班除安排本中心和本研究所教师授课外，还专门邀请了欧空局和意大利国家科学理事会的著名世界遗产空间技术专家前来授课，真正体现了培训班的国际性和高水平。培训班于7月10日闭幕，为期20天。
